Speaks at United Nations
Mr. Uitti joined other speakers at the Communication Workshop of the Department of Public Information / Non Governmental Organization Section (DPI/NGO Section) on November 14th, covering the general topics of "Affordable Communications Technologies: NGOs Connect". His segment covered "How NGOs Get Organized On-line to Communicate". The talk did not paint a pretty picture in organizing on-line, but described many of the necessary steps that leaders must take to encourage their supporters and members to use this new media. Many pitfalls, service options, and training issues should be considered. Clearly, a low cost communication alternative awaits; but planning, policies and training are required to build the group into using the internet regularly. See on-line presentation seminar here. or visit www.uitti.net/ngodpiexecom/NGOonline/NGOsGetOrganizedOn-line.htm 15 November 2002 Judging from the positive feedback during and after the workshop, the participants appreciated and enjoyed the workshop. The information provided was very useful in helping NGO representatives to demystify communications technologies and increase their awareness of the importance of such technologies. I would like to thank you again for your presentation. Affordable communications technologies are very important to non-governmental organizations to promote themselves and to network. Whenever you have any suggestion or advice for further workshops or briefings, please feel free to share them with us. I hope we can get together for lunch in the near future. Please find a photo memento of your presentation, for posterity.
Yours sincerely, Paul Hoeffel |
